Fame and Fortune

If I’m going to be really honest, I have to admit that recently I’ve been a bit discouraged about Mandi’s Makings. In business, as some of you know, it can be very inconsistent. And, during those inconsistent times, whether it’s extremely busy and I forget to eat lunch, (or it’s so slow I eat 2 lunches!!) I question if what I’m doing is really what God has called me to. I wonder if I’ve taken on more than I can handle or is my time up and I should move on to something else.

In the slow times I wonder “why isn’t business growing like crazy?” Then I wondered “why aren’t we hiring people constantly to keep up with the flow when it’s busy?” I see other businesses that started around the same time as us and the progress they are making. I wondered if I’ve been traveling down the wrong road.

But, as I poured my coffee this morning God reminded me of the simple reason this all started.

From the very beginning when God called me to this place of starting a business, He didn’t call me here for shinning lights. He knew there would be seasons I would be so overwhelmed I didn’t know what to do and I would need to lean on Him. He also knew there would be seasons when I wondered if I even owned a business because it was so slow and I would need to lean on Him.

See…..Mandi’s Makings wasn’t created to grow so big that we need a high rise building, in a big city, with a large sign on the top, that shines 24 hours a day. It wasn’t meant to be that company whose neon sign was known by everyone in the world. We weren’t meant to reach millions in sales each day just so  that everyone in the world knows our name.

We were created to be the company who reached millions of PEOPLE.

We were created to reach women, men and children rescued from all types of injustice in remote areas of the world who have never heard of Jesus.

We were created to be the company who made JESUS’ name famous…..not ours.

So…whose name are YOU making famous?

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
